UPS & Power Backup

Power cuts and voltage swings can corrupt data, damage equipment and stop work. We help you choose the right UPS, size it for your load and backup time, and replace worn-out batteries, so your servers, network, CCTV and computers keep running when the mains does not.

UPS systems

Every UPS keeps your equipment running through a power cut. Which one you need depends on how sensitive that equipment is to even a moment without power.

The power-cut test

Same power cut, two kinds of UPS

Both keep your equipment running. The difference is what happens in the moment the mains fails.

Mains power on.

Line-interactive UPS

Standby: steps in when needed

What the equipment receives

Power bypasses the UPS while the battery waits.

Online UPS

Double conversion: always in the path

What the equipment receives

Power always runs through the UPS.

The switch-over gap is slowed down here so you can see it. In reality it lasts a few milliseconds.

Standby UPS with AVR

Line-interactive UPS

A standby UPS that also corrects low or high mains voltage on its own, without using the battery.

Best for Small servers, network racks and POS systems

01

LCD status

Shows load, battery level and the runtime left.

03

Voltage regulation (AVR)

Boosts low mains and trims high mains to keep the output steady.

02

Longer battery life

Voltage swings are handled without the battery, so it wears out more slowly.

04

Tower or rack-mount

Stands beside a desk or fits into a network rack.

Sizing & batteries

A UPS that is too small shuts down under load, and one that is too big wastes money. We work out the right capacity and battery backup for your equipment, and replace batteries when they wear out.

How we size your UPS

  1. 01

    List what needs backup

Servers, PCs, network devices, CCTV recorders and anything else that must stay on.

  2. 02

    Measure the load

We add up the power each device draws to find the total load in watts.

  3. 03

    Choose UPS type & capacity

We pick a line-interactive or online UPS and a capacity with headroom for growth.

  4. 04

    Set the backup time

We match Li-ion batteries to how many minutes or hours you need to keep running.

Our batteries

Lithium-ion (Li-ion) UPS batteries

We supply and fit Li-ion batteries for UPS systems, as new battery banks and as replacements where your UPS supports them.

  • Longer life

Li-ion batteries last much longer than lead-acid, so you replace them far less often.

  • Faster recharging

Back to full charge sooner after a power cut, ready for the next one.

  • Smaller & lighter

The same backup time in a smaller, lighter battery cabinet.

  • Built-in monitoring

A battery management system watches every cell and warns early of problems.

Get your backup time back

UPS batteries wear out with age, heat and frequent power cuts, even when the UPS itself is fine. We replace them with new batteries matched to your UPS, including Li-ion where your UPS supports it, so you get full backup time again without buying a new unit.

Signs it’s time to replace

  • Backup time is much shorter than it used to be
  • The UPS beeps or shows a battery warning
  • The UPS shuts down as soon as the power cuts
  • Batteries are a few years old or look swollen
